Watch out for these five signals that can act as a warning that you are not building muscles and it is high time you need to pay attention and follow a few rules to start gaining muscles again.

  1. Not getting enough pumps:Notice if you are not getting enough pumps because of your training. This would mean that you are too dependent on a unilateral method pertaining to overloading. In such cases, it is better to train for hypertrophy. This will result in the gain that occurs due to muscle expansion that happens because of blood filling the muscles due to a high volume of reps. This can be achieved through metabolic training, which means introducing lighter weights and more reps. A regime like this ensures higher gains
  2. Not feeling discomfort while flexing muscles:Watch out for any discomfort when you contract muscles. There should be a sense of discomfort when you flex muscles, not being able to feel any kind of soreness means there is no connection between the mind and muscle. This means that the body is not engaging the muscle fibres and putting them to work thereby hindering the gains
  3. Dark colored urine: The colour of your urine is another point that you should be observing. Generally, you should be urinating clear. If the colour of your urine turns out to be yellow, it should be a reason for concern. It clearly indicates that your body is dehydrated, a dehydrated body cannot build muscles
  4. Not enough recovery: Ifyou find out that you have not been recovering from your workouts, it is a clear sign that you are not building muscles. If you feel that your performance has been dropping each day then it means that you have not been recovering properly and consider having enhanced rest time or think about changing the training regime
  5. Giving up between sets:The final signal that you are not building muscles would be when you give up between sets. Keep a close watch on your performance and see for any performance change between sets. If your performance suffers and if you are not being able to do the same number of reps like the previous set or if you keep dropping weights, then it is a clear sign that you are under recovered. Under recovery is the biggest hindrance in the path of building muscles
